Bandits abduct 30 farmers in Kaduna

Armed gunmen suspected to be terrorists reportedly kidnapped over 30 farmers in the on Saturday morning in the Chikuri community of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Dogara Peter, a resident who confirmed the incident to The PUNCH on Saturday, said his mother and his sister were among the victims.

According to him, the victims were abducted while working on Maikudi’s Farms.

Peter noted, “Our community has been thrown into confusion as we have yet to establish any contact with the abductors.

The Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer,  Mohammed Jalige,  did not respond to calls put to him by our correspondent as of the time of filling this report.

About 1,266 persons were killed by bandits in Kaduna State in the last 15 months, according to records released by the state government.

Also, 746 persons were kidnapped in the state between January and March 2023.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, released the figures on Wednesday, April 19, at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna.
