Defence Corp Arrests Suspects, Impound Trucks With Stolen Crude (Video)

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested Four suspects, impounded two heavy-duty trucks and four vehicles in Rivers State laden with over 90,000 litres of illegally obtained crude oil and over 1,400 litres of illegally refined petroleum products.

Commandant of the NSCDC Rivers state Command Michael Ogar disclosed this to newsmen at the Command exhibit yards in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

Parading the suspects and exhibits Commandant Ogar noted that the trucks were intercepted while conveying the illegally obtained crude oil to Akwa Ibom State.

Ogar affirmed that the Command will not relent in her dogged fight maintaining that prompt Intelligence sharing with the Security Agencies, especially the NSCDC would lead to the arrests of those perpetrating the evil act.

He added that the command has generated over N100 million in the last 10 months through forfeiture of impounded exhibits.

The NSCDC BOSS asked for more cooperation from the Traditional Institutions, Community Youths, Civil Society Organizations and Non Governmental organizations. He described them as true advocates against environmental degradation, pollution and health hazards generated by illegal dealings in petroleum products in Rivers State.

He said with credible and actionable intelligence, the Command would be able to clamp down on all oil thieves in the State.
