Police fire teargas at Mohbad’s candlelight event (graphic)

Pandemonium broke out around the Muri Okuonla Park in Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday night as police officers fired teargas canisters at sympathisers who came to the location to honur late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad.

The armed policemen teargassed protesters at late singer’s candlelight procession in Lekki, Lagos.

 

They came to demand justice and pay tribute to his legacy.

The candlelight procession was graced by several fans, friends, and fellow musicians.

however tensions grew into chaos as the police attempted to disperse the crowd.

A large number of people were hurt during the encounter with law enforcement.

Mohbad died last Tuesday.

Accusing finger was pointed at the Marlian Record Label’s owner Afeez Fashola professionally known as Naira Marley. Mohbad was an act under the label until he left last year.

The Nigeria police and Lagos police command have promised to investigate his death.
