A Non Governmental Organization, Concerned Nation Builders Initiative, CNI
wants the Lagos state government to build a rehabilitation center in Epe Division and other Divisional areas in Lagos state.

Research and Documents Director of the NGO, Mr Titilayo Adebanjo, made the appeal during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, in Epe, on Saturday.

He expressed his concern at the consumption rate of hard drugs by the youths.

“The emerging rate at which this present generation of youths abuse drugs is becoming worrisome and alarming”

“Once a youth is jobless the alternative to console himself is to engage in hard drugs, which invariably affects his psyche”

“The aftermath of hard drugs consumption by the Nigerian youths is what is affecting the country today”

“In a situation where the youths are psychologically affected, what will be the future of the country?, ” he asked.

Adebanjo appealed to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to build rehabilitation centers across all the Divisional areas in Lagos state.

He mentioned some areas where the youths engage in drugs as; Oke-Iposun, Cele, Papa, Iraye, and other areas in Epe Division.

Others as; Makoko area, Ijora Badia, Amukoko, Ikorodu, Oshodi, Mushin, Lagos Island to mention but a few.

He said that youths living in these areas are despicable, dreadful, and helpless.

“They have become nuisance to the society due to the effects of drug abuse. Their lives are imbalanced, therefore, they need a correctional home to sharpen their mentality, ” he said.

Adebanjo urged other Non Governmental Organizations and Civil Society Groups to organize seminars, workshops, and summits to educate the Nigerian youth on the effects of hard drugs in the society.

“The government alone cannot do it, it requires a collective effort to develop the nation, ” he said.

Adebanjo urged government to find lasting solutions to the harsh economic condition of the country. He said the country is becoming unfavorable for all.
