Media OISD hosts training for female journalists in northeast Nigeria

The Organization for Innovation and Sustainable Development (OISD) flagged off a groundbreaking training event today, aimed at empowering female journalists in the North-East region of Nigeria.

 

The event, titled “SHE EXISTS: Promoting Equity and Equal Opportunities for Women in Media,” was officially opened by OISD’s Executive Director, Mr. Jamilu Yusuf, at the prestigious AUN Hotel in Yola, Adamawa State.

With the support of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Abuja, OISD has orchestrated a pivotal gathering that signifies a significant step toward a more inclusive and equitable media landscape.

The event drew participants, speakers, and partners from various sectors, highlighting the global importance of gender equality in journalism.

The opening ceremony featured esteemed guests, including Mr. Robert Gabor, the U.S. Embassy Press Attaché, who delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the U.S. Embassy’s commitment to fostering gender equality and the vital role of women in journalism.

The keynote address was delivered by Aishah Gambari, a Senior Information Specialist, who shared her vast experience and insights into the transformative potential of women in the media industry.

Her speech underscored the importance of empowering women journalists to shape the future of the media.
