Adamawa Decides: 36,935 Voters To Vote In Supplementary Election – REC (Video)- By Ibrahim Abubakar, Yola

About 36,935 voters are expected to cast their votes during the supplementary election for the governorship election slated for Saturday, 15th of April, 2023.

The figure was disclosed by the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the North East Nigerian state, Barrister Hudu Yunusa Ari during a stakeholders meeting in Yola, the state capital city.

The Commission also added that the Police and other Security agencies have been given the mandate to arrest and prosecute any perpetrator of electoral violence in the forthcoming Supplementary election.

The meeting which was attended by representatives of political parties, security agencies, Inter-Party Advisory Council, the Media and other relevant agencies sought ways to have a peaceful election in the state.

Barrister Yunusa Hudu Ari while declaring the meeting open said the law will take it’s full cause on anybody or group of persons, whatever his or her position, trying to cause violence during the excercise.

He advised leaders of political parties to ensure that only one agent is accredited by the Commission and wearing identification tag appears at polling units and Collation centers during the Election.

Since the declaration by INEC for the conduct of the re-run Governorship election come 25th April 2023, all the Candidates involved are in the contest.

The incumbent, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of PDP and Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed Binani are the leading contestants in the race.
