The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, Senator Adetokunbo Abiru, Lagos East, has emerged as the Chairman of the Southern Senators Forum, SSF.
Senator Abiru took over from Senator Opeyemi Bamidele who served as Chairman of the forum during the 9th Senate.
Senator Bamidele’s current position as Leader of the 10th Senate, prevented him from providing the required leadership, necessitating a change of leadership which took place at the meeting.
Accepting his appointment as the new leader of the forum, Senator Abiru said the forum would serve as a veritable platform for discussing, analysing, and dissecting national issues by Southern Senators to move Nigeria forward.
He added that they will partner with the Northern Senators Forum to move the country forward.
Others who emerged are Senators Victor Umeh, LP, Anambra Central; Barinada Mpigi, PDP, Rivers South East, is the Secretary; Asuquo Ekpenyong, APC, Cross River South, is the Public Relations Officer, PRO; and Kenneth Eze, APC, Ebonyi Central, is the Treasurer.
