Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Friday presented a budget proposal of over N175 billion for the 2023 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
The budget tagged ‘Budget of Consolidation and projects’, will consolidate in financing projects being executed by the government since it came on board in 2019.
Fintiri while presenting the budget on the floor of the House, said N175,019,054,060 budget proposal comprises recurrent expenditure of N105,011,432,436 representing 60 percent while N70,007,621624 is for capital expenditure representing 40 percent of the total budget proposal.
The Governor said education is allocated the highest share of the capital expenditure proposal because apart from working to sustain numerous ongoing projects in the sector, three special schools for the gifted, will be established..
He pledged that all ongoing projects will be completed within time frame.
In a remark, the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aminu Iya Abbas, said the budget will be reviewed and approved.
He expressed confidence that the 2023 budget will be diligently implemented by Fintiri’s cabinet.
He stated that the Assembly is working on a bill to make a law mandating all subsequent governors to implement free and compulsory basic-level education in the state, as being implementated by Fintiri administration.
