COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE IN ADAMAWA STATE- 20,000 Seedlings Distributed To Communities Affected By Boko Haram – By Ibrahim Abubakar, Yola

Over Twenty Thousand seedlings have been distributed to communities affected by Boko Haram in Adamawa State to help reduce greenhouse gas and soil erosion.

Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa state is one of the worst hit communities destroyed by Boko Haram in Adamawa State, North East Nigeria, a few years ago.

The convener of the seedlings distribution, Iliya Kwache says the Tree planting is very paramount as it will bring life to the community, improve quality of life and combat climate change and reduce global warming.

He disclosed this at the flag off of the Annual Mass Tree Planting Campaign Exercise at the Old Stadium in Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

They however promised him to plant trees within the community and stand against whoever is cutting down trees.

Earlier within the week, the Adamawa State governor, Ahmadu Fintiri had banned the cutting down of trees within and outside the State capital, while giving marching orders to the security agencies to arrest anyone caught violating the order.
