In conclusion of its Adamawa statewide Correctional Centre visit, the state Jail Delivery Committee, JDC, has discharged ten and reviewed twelve convicted and nonconvicted inmates in Guyuk Satellite Correctional Custody.

The eighty capacity centre presently housed thirty nine out of which ten were discharged leaving nineteen in the centre.

Shortly after the completion of the exercise, the state Chief Judge and leader of the Committee, Justice Hafsat Abdulrahaman charged the beneficiaries to be of good behaviour henceforth.

She warned that when they would not be treated with leniency when they are caught committing the offence for which they were convicted or any other.

The committee went to the Guyuk Local Government Council Chairman, Chief Solomon Abafras on courtesy call.

While there, Justice Abdulrahaman intimated the Chairman with what transpired at the correctional centre and appealed to him to avail the centre with detergents and other sanitary items for promotion of hygiene by the inmates.

Responding, the Council Chairman, Chief Solomon Abafras explained that he has been in touch with the Correctional Centre in some of its aress of need noting however that he will redouble efforts in that regard.

Chief Abafras thereafter led the Committee to the palace of Kwandi Nunguraya, Kurhaye Dishon Damsanda for royal homage.

Responding to the same plea by the CJ, the royal father expressed readiness of the traditional council to meet the critical needs of the Correctional centre.

He applauded the Chief Judge facilitating the release of the beneficiaries which according to him amounted to Correctional centre decongestion describing it as a good omen.

He used the opportunity to call on youths to desist from taking illicit substances but engage in meaningful and honourable ventures.
