Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari Monday met with a chieftain of the rulling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The agenda of the meeting was not made public but keen political watchers believed it may not be unconnected with the activities of the ruling party as regards its convention and the zoning of the political offices, especially the presidency for the 2023 elections.
Tinubu came last to the Presidential Villa on October 31, 2021.
After the meeting, Mr Tinubu said that he has informed President Buhari of his ambition to contest for the position of president in 2023.
Tinubu said it was a lifelong ambition and that he has the confidence, the vision and the capacity to build on the vision of President Buhari.
He said, “I have informed the President of my ambition but I have not informed Nigerians yet, I am still consulting.”
On what was the response of the President, Tinubu said that the President as a democrat did not ask him to stop from contesting.
