VIDEO: Nigeria steps up fight against Cancer

The Nigerian Government has revealed its plan to procure more diagnostic equipment in hospitals as well as upgrading its structures in the country to enable early diagnosis and early treatment of Cancer amongst Nigerians.

Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare Dr Tunji Aina disclosed at the World Cancer Day symposium organised by Project Pink Blue in Abuja with the theme “Economy, Tax and Cancer Control and Exit of Pharmaceutical Companies in Nigeria” that the federal government’s putting all its ability to ensure early diagnosis and treatment, encourage more pharmaceutical companies in Nigeria through tax and domestication of local production of vaccines.
Also speaking Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, Chairman Senate Committee on Finance disclosed that Cancer posed a very serious challenge in the health sector.
Convener of the symposium, Runcie Chidiebere and Vice President Of African Healthcare Foundation, Dr Clare Omotseye outlined various possible recommendations and solutions to provide quality Cancer care to the poor and vulnerable in the country.
Vaccine acceptability is often a problem in Nigeria as many children miss out on such opportunities due to unverified news. Nigerians are encouraged to take advantage of free vaccination to prevent the scourge of cervical and prostate Cancer in Nigeria.
