Nigeria’s Minister for Education, Professor Tahir Mamman has denied what he described as false claims about the Government’s policy on Tertiary Education.

Speaking at the 2024 Second Quarter Engagement with Heads of Department and Chief Executives of Parastatals of the Ministry in Abuja, Prof. Mamman reassured Stakeholders of the Government’s support for Public Universities while clarifying the role of private sector involvement.

Prof. Mamman noted the success of similar initiatives in Asia, where International institutions have significantly raised Educational standard and brought substantial economic benefits. he said that by opening up the Universities to international operators, it will aim to replicate these successes and transform Nigeria into an Educational hub.

 

Echoing the sentiment of collaboration, the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tanko Yusuf Sununu, emphasized the importance of a unified approach to tackling Educational challenges, as he underscored President Tinubu’s prioritization of Education as a key instrument for poverty eradication and the need for Graduates to be globally marketable and relevant.

This engagement reflects the Government’s strategic vision to harness both local and international expertise, ensuring that Nigeria’s Education sector thrives in the 21st century.
