Nigeria marks Armed Forces remembrance day

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has launched the 2024 armed forces remembrance day emblem and appeal fund.

The Nigerian president assured that his administration will continue to strengthen the Nigerian security architecture.

In appreciation of the efforts of fallen heroes to national security, President Tinubu said he has approved the sum of 18 billion Naira for the payment of insurance and other entitlements of service men who lost their lives in the course of operations.

He stated that the armed forces remembrance day emblem remains a symbol of remembrance and a beacon of hope for a peaceful future.

Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru reiterated the contributions of ex- service personnel and war veterans to the survival and continued existence of the Nigerian state.

He said the present administration through the service headquarters is committed to training armed forces combatants towards the discharge of their duties.

The highpoint of the occasion was the launch of the 2024 armed forces remembrance day emblem by the leadership of the national assembly and heads of security and intelligence agencies.

 

The Nigerian armed forces remembrance Day is marked on January 15 annually to commemorate the nation’s fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice during the first and second world wars.
