Governor Fintiri Condoles With Families Of Vunoklang Tipper Crash

Adamawa State Governor, the Rt. Hon Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has commiserated with the people of Vunoklang community in Girei Local Government area over the tragic loss of lives in a fatal automobile accident on Wednesday morning.

The fatal mishap which occurred when a tipper conveying laterite lost control after descending the stretch of the bridge around the Vunoklang area led to the loss of lives and several vehicles including a Starlet car and Tricycles.

Governor Fintiri expressed sadness over the incident describing it as painful and most regrettable that the incident claimed 6 lives.

The Governor, who also condoled with families of victims of the accident, said it was a harrowing experience to learn that a family member who had gone to engage in productive activity would never return.

“ I wish to extend my sincere condolences to the People of the State and the families of victims who died or suffered injuries in this most unwelcome development”, Governor Fintiri said.

While wishing survivors rapid recovery, he commended the sense of duty of the emergency service providers who promptly responded to bring the situation under control and managed the traffic.

The Governor said it was important for all stakeholders in the transport sector, especially owners and operators of articulated vehicles, to renew their commitment to best practices and road safety awareness in order to ensure the stoppage of unnecessary loss of life and property on the nation’s highways.

Rt. Hon Fintiri, while reiterating the resolve of his administration to continue to work to improve motorability through the provision of roads, regretted that excessive speeding was among the highest causes of accidents and not bad roads in Adamawa State.
