Adamawa State in Nigeria’s Northeast is battling a cholera outbreak that has claimed the lives of four individuals and hospitalized 36 others. The outbreak has been reported in the Alkalawa, Ajiya, and Limawa wards of the Yola-North Local Government Area.

Jibrin Ibrahim, Chairman of Yola-North LGA, revealed these details during his visit to the Infectious Disease Centre (IDC) in Yola. He noted that the number of reported cases has surged from 20 to over 40, with four confirmed deaths.

Ibrahim commended the swift response of health workers, the Red Cross, and international partners, highlighting that the outbreak is believed to be linked to contaminated water due to recent flooding. He assured that many of the affected individuals have been stabilized with ongoing medical attention.
