A 19-member squad of Zambian football legends has left for Lilongwe for a festive season match against Malawi greats.
The Zambian contingent was seen off at Football House by FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga who urged the legends to represent the Zambian football family with honour.
Among the legends drawn from the post-2000 squads are 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winners Chintu Kampamba, Felix Katongo, Jonas Sakuwaha, Kalililo Kakonje, Hichani Himoonde, James Chamanga and William Njobvu.
Others are Clive Hachilensa, Billy Mwanza, Fackson Kapumbu, Buchizya Mfune and Kennedy Nkethani.Completing the list is Ignatious Lwipa, Nchimunya Mweetwa and Justin Zulu.
The two sides met in the legendary clash in 2023 as part of the Independence anniversary celebrations with the Zambian side winning 2-1 at David Kaunda Stadium in Chipata.Goals for Zambia came through Clifford Mulenga and Ignatious Lwipa while Jimmy Zakazaka scored the consolation for the Flames greats.
The match will be played at Bingu National Stadium on Saturday and will kick off at 15:00 hours.
Veteran coach Patrick Phiri will lead the Zambian squad.
