Reigning COSAFA champions Zambia will face Burundi in the second round of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup 2026 qualifiers, with matches scheduled for 19 and 27 September 2025.
The draw, conducted on Thursday afternoon in Cairo, confirmed that the winner of this encounter will face either Uganda or Namibia in the third round of the qualification series.
The FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers consist of four rounds, with the third-round victors advancing to a final clash against the overall winner of the (Togo vs Tunisia x Ghana vs Eswatini/South Africa) fixtures for a coveted spot at the global extravaganza.
Meanwhile, the path to the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 has also been revealed.
Zambia, fresh off their participation in this year’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic, will enter the race in the second round, where they are set to face the winner of the first round tie between Eswatini and Tanzania.
Should Carol Kanyemba’s side advance, they will face a third round showdown against the winners of the (Congo vs. Benin) x (DR Congo vs. Niger) fixtures, with a ticket to Morocco on the line.
The FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025 will be the first time the tournament will be hosted on African soil and only the second time in an Arab country, following Jordan’s hosting in 2016.
