South Africa and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper, Ronwem Williams has won the CAF Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year Award.
Williams, who captained South Africa to the bronze medal at the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Cote d’Ivoire 2023, will live on in history for his incredible penalty saves.
They defeated Morocco in the round of 16 before Williams’ heroics in the shootout helped the team defeat Cape Verde and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
He was nominated for FIFA’s top custodian in 2024 and also assisted Bafana Bafana in qualifying for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire in 2025.
In the South African Premiership, the 32-year-old assisted his team Mamelodi Sundowns in setting a joint record low of 11 goals given up in 30 games as the Brazilians easily won their eighth consecutive domestic league title.
