The Chairlady of Lake Chad Basin Governors Forum who is also the Governor of Hadji Lamis Province in Chad, Ildjima Abdraman has last week visited her Yobe State counterpart Hon Mai Mala Buni at the Government House Damaturu.
Abdraman who arrived at Yobe through the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport, Damaturu, was received by the Yobe State top government functionaries among other humanitarian actors.
A statement from the executive secretary, Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA), Dr Mohammed Goje said the chairlady was in Yobe on a regional stabilization among other missions geared toward facilitating recovery.
He said the chairlady’s visit was to strengthen security collaboration, humanitarian efforts and economic development among other issues that affect the region.
“This is part of the Chairs efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchanges between the various Governors of the Lake Chad Basin in areas affected by the Boko Haram crisis.
“During the Visit, the current Chairlady of the Lake Chad Basin Governors’ Forum and His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni exchanged views with the Yobe State Government on the outcomes, common challenges, and lessons learned during the first phase of the implementation of the Regional Response to Stabilisation as well discussed ways to address a number of cross-border issues in the Lake Chad Basin.
“Upon arrival, the Chairlady was led to the Government House Damaturu where she had a courtesy with His Excellency, Hon Mai Mala Buni and thereafter the two Governors had a close door meeting.”
Goje said the Chairlady was later taken round the state capital to interact with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in host communities and returnees in addition to visitation to hospitals and markets as some of the key areas were Yobe State Government invested in complementing the stabilization efforts in the region.
The Chairlady has during the visit also took time to meet the Secretary to the Yobe State Government, Alhaj Baba Mallam Wali, the Yobe Network of Civil Society Organizations, Women led CSOs among others.
She was accompanied for the visit by the Director Cabinet From Chad, Abdel-aziz Tcanglang, Communication Specialist from Cameroon, Fajong Joseph lereh, Project Development Expert from Cameroon, Mints Amougou Marthee, Legal Advisor from Nigeria, Nura Dawakin Tofa and translators.
