Last year Delta Football Association DFA Cup Winners Warri Wolves Football Club of Warri have been handed a wildcard advanced in the 2025 Delta Football Association Federation Cup draw
The draw which was held on Friday at the Patrick Okpomo House, Headquarters Asaba also saw Young Soccer Academy Football Club of Issele-uku pitched against Morak Football Club of Warri in the first game at Oleh Township Stadium in the drawings.
In other fixtures, Delta Football League winners Winsome Football Club of Gbaramatu will play NLO champions Sapele Lions Football Club of Sapele.
Mighty Wanderers Football Club of Abraka takes on Telectual Football Club of Warri, while Excellent Football Club of Ughelli plays Morak Football Academy Feeders of Warri.
Igho Football Club of Sapele trades tackle with Ughelli Rovers Football Club of Ughelli just as Delta Lions Football Club of Asaba contend with Osevan Football Club of Kwale with Itamah Football Club of Sapele clashing with Acts Sports Football Academy of Warri.
The Chairman of the Delta State Football Association, Chief Godwin Adode while lauding Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his continued support said that this year’s tournament was an opportunity for players to showcase their talent to the international community as the board would be working with different media houses towards showcasing thee talents that abound in the state.
Chief Adode however urged the various club sides and player to uphold the values of sportsmanship, discipline and integrity as any untoward behavior would be met with equal punishment.
He also commended FLEXIP for partnering with the DFA saying the association would not relent in its bid to take Delta States football to a higher pedestal.
The Vice Chairman of the association and Head of competitions, Mr Neville Ambekederemo averred that the clubs must adhere to the rules saying the match officials have been charged to be fair and firm.
Mr Ambekederemo however revealed that the low turnout of clubs was due to the registration fee stipulated by the NFF which was beyond the reach of many clubs in the state.
He however asserted that two venues would be used for the tournament with Sapele and Oleh as centers while the finals would be played in Asaba.
Fifteen clubs registered for the male event with the duo of Delta Queens Football Club of Asaba and Delta Babes Football Club of Warri as the only female club sides that registered for the tournament with both of them already qualified for the final.
