Ten-man Viper SC remained in control of proceedings at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table following a hard-fought 1-0 win over UPDF at Bombo on Friday.
Allan Okello scored the all important goal after 15 minutes for Vipers to move to 31 points, four ahead of second placed NEC, who are in action on Saturday. UPDF are 10 places and 14 points below Vipers having lost five in 14 matches.
Vipers ended the game with a player fewer following a straight dismissal of Derrick Ndahiro for dangerous play 13 minutes from full time.
Okello’s winner was his 11th and he leads the top scorers charts. URA’s Ivan Ahimbisibwe has nine goals. Elsewhere, Isaac Wagoina netted a brace for BUL to beat Lugazi 2-1 at Najjembe and claim their first win in seven matches.
Wagoina scored his and BUL’s first on 22 minutes before Abdul Kalanzi levelled for Lugazi in the 37’th minute. But Wagoina had other ideas, completing his brace in added time to hand BUL all three points.
BUL’s only fourth win in 14 matches has them in seventh place on 19 points, while Lugazi are a place above relegation on 13.
