VIDEO: Gov Makinde signs Executive Order on harmful substances

Anyone caught in possession of harmful substances that could pose a threat to public safety would face the full wrath of the law.
Governor of Oyo State, South West Nigeria, Seyi Makinde issued this warning in Ibadan, the state capital shortly after he signed an executive order 001 of 2024 on the safe handling of dangerous substances.

Governor Makinde explained that the move became necessary to prevent a recurrence of the January 16 explosion which rocked parts of the Bodija area of Ibadan.
It’s the signing of executive order 001 of 2024 on the safe handling of harmful substances within Oyo State and the Governor is not mincing words about his determination to check the activities of handlers of dangerous substances that could pose a threat to public safety.
The Governor also led a delegation of senior government officials to the epicenter of the January 16 explosion site which left several residents dead and properties worth millions destroyed.
Governor Makinde said the full weight of the law would go down hard on offenders.
The signing of the executive order 001 takes immediate effect and the state government has urged residents to come forward with information of individuals whose activity could pose a threat to public safety and confidence.
About 500 houses within a radius of 500 metres from the epicenter of the explosion were deeply affected by the blast.
Team Lead of the Structure Integrity Assessment team Engineer Mbim Okutingano said a preliminary report would be released to the public on governments next line of action.
