The Federal Government of Nigeria has pledged to remain committed towards implementing teachers scheme as a way of improving the quality of education in the country.

The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman who made the pledge at the Public Presentation of the Professional Standards for school Leadership, in Abuja acknowledged the roles of teachers in developing value system at the heart of learners, hence the need to support their crucial roles.

While pledging the commitment of the federal government to providing necessary resources, training, and support to help them succeed in their profession the Minister maintained that the professional standards would serve as a comprehensive framework designed to support and enhance the effectiveness of school leadership.

As according him, the standards were not merely guidelines, but a vision of what exemplary leadership should be by providing a clear pathway for professional growth and institutional success.

 

For his part, the Director Programmes, British Council, Chikodi Onyemerela said effective school leadership would invariably create an effective learning environment that students could benefit from, adding that school leadership was an indispensable outcomes of the whole school system.

 

Also speaking, Registrar of TRCN, Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, explained that school leadership was critical to changing the landscape in teaching profession of the country, as the idea is to produce instructional leadership in our school leaders so that they will not only be managing the chalk and duster but they will also be able to manage the instruction in their various school system.
