Uphold Peace And Selflessness, Governor Fintiri Urges Citizens At Easter

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has called on citizens to uphold the spirit of peace and selflessness during the Easter holiday weekend.

Greeting Christians during the beginning of Good Friday as celebrated across the world, the Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri recounted the biblical teachings of Jesus Christ, as he urged citizens to share with the less fortunate in society.

The Governor intimated that Christ had given himself up to die for the healing of the world and not its destruction, “The sacrifice we must strive to make for the unity, peace, progress, growth and development of our State and Nation.”

Describing Easter as a special season especially for Christians, Governor Fintiri noted that “Christians must remember the death and resurrection of The Lord Jesus Christ. As we enter into the Easter season this year, let’s once again remember that it is a season for sacrificing ourselves, the same season that Jesus was sacrificed for the sake of our sins and peace,” he said.

He noted that his administration will continue to make sacrifices through ensuring the provision of democracy dividend, reassuring that “No Community would be left behind or be left untouched, neither will any project be abandoned.”

While reiterating his desire to complete all projects he started or inherited before the end of his tenure, the Governor said the next dispensation would witness more infrastructural and human capital development than the first tenure.

“Immediately after the Easter break, we shall continue the commissioning of our hospital projects starting with the Dumne Cottage hospital.”

“As we rejoice in remembrance of the saving grace of Jesus Christ, let us not forget the less fortunate amongst us. Let us deliberately make it our responsibility to spread the love by extending a helping hand to the needy this Easter season in line with the excessive love that Jesus Christ exhibited by dying on the cross.”

“I send you this message of goodwill and best wishes, praying that we will continue with the unity and oneness that binds us together so that we will continue building our State to become a respected community that we are proud of, a State where people forgive each other and most importantly, a nation that is at peace with itself.”
