Two Persons Recovered Dead From Rubble Of Yaba Building Collapse

Reports on ground indicates that some persons have been recovered dead from the ruins of the building which collapsed in the Yaba area of Lagos State on Saturday.

Atleast two bricklayers have been confirmed to have died and two others left with varying degrees of injuries after being brought out under the rubble of the three-storey building.

The three-storey building on Akanbi Crescent, close to the University of Lagos was still under construction before the crash.

The first deceased adult bricklayer’s body was said to have been recovered under the collapsed structure at about 8:34 pm, the other was brought out 9:45 pm by the State’s emergency rescue officers.

After the collapse first responders from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency arrived at the scene to begin rescue operations.

The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident and that the rescue operations were still ongoing at the disaster site.

The number of people trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building is still not clear.
