Thomas Tuchel is now the new England coach, taking over from interim manager Lee Carsley. The 51-year-old German coach becomes the third foreign coach in the history of the Three Lions, after Eriksson and Capello.
He expressed his pride in taking on the role in his first words to the English Football Association.
“I am very proud to have the honour of leading the England team. I have long felt a personal connection to football in this country and it has already given me some incredible moments. To have the chance to represent England is a huge privilege and the opportunity to work with this special and talented group of players is very exciting. Working closely with Anthony Barry as assistant manager, we will do everything we can to make England successful and make the fans proud. I would like to thank the FA, particularly Mark and John, for their trust and I look forward to our journey together.” he said.
