A former Nigerian Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He was involved in the Chicago State University forged certificate suit filed against President Bola Tinubu in the US.

He has made some revelations.

Responding to questions at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, one of his lawyers, Kalu Kalu said one of the documents released by Chicago State University (CSU) showed that Tinubu allegedly forged the certificate of a black American.

Atiku had filed a suit against President Bola Tinubu over his academic record at the Chicago State University (CSU).

Tinubu tried to block the release of the documents, saying it was an intrusion of his privacy but the court overruled him.

Atiku’s lawyers got hold of the documents on Monday, while an oral deposition was made by Caleb Westberg, CSU Registrar.

A deposition is the process of taking a sworn, out-of-court oral testimony of a witness. This testimony may be reduced to a written transcript for use in court or for discovery purposes.

Speaking in Abuja, Kalu said, “On the certificate issued or released by Chicago State University to the lawyers of Alhajji Atiku Abubakar. These are the documents; One, that Bola Ahmed Tinubu forged the certificate he presented to INEC.

Two, that the qualified certificate from Southwest College to Chicago State University bears a female. That means that the document does not belong to Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“Three, the Chicago State University admission application form has a claim that Bola Ahmed Tinubu attended Government College Lagos and graduated in 1970, when indeed the school was established in 1974.

The same document has it that the owner of that document is a Black American and the document Bola Ahmed Tinubu submitted to INEC, he denied having dual citizenship which means it does not belong to him.”

Abubakar Atiku, on Thursday, said the reputation of Nigeria is at stake following the certificate scandal of President Bola Tinubu.

Chicago State University (CSU) had on Monday, October 2, released Tinubu’s academic documents following the order by an Illinois court which ordered the varsity to release the academic records as requested by Atiku.

There has been debate on the authenticity of the certificate Tinubu submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), with many Nigerians calling for the immediate resignation of the former.

Against the backdrop, Atiku in a just-concluded world press conference, monitored by DopeReporters saluted Nigerian youths for bringing the issue to limelight.

“Political leadership and active citizenship matter because there are ways in which we all work together to build a country that works for all who live in it and who will come after us.

“Our country (Nigeria) is bigger than any of us and is standing in a wall that affects the faith of all who come and live in this great country.

“As leaders, it is our duty to advance the well-being of all our people and the country. For this purpose, my generation worked hard to retire the soldiers to the barracks and to defend the rights of the people to elect and establish for ourselves a legitimate government.

“We must entrust these facts to all our citizens and leaders of our institution charged with interpreting our constitution,” he said.
