The Taraba State House of Assembly Committee on Security has expressed its commitment to partnering with the state police command to enhance security and successfully implement its legislative programs.
The committee signified the interest on Thursday, during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Ukachi Opara, at the command headquarters in Jalingo, the state capital.
Led by its chairman, Mike Dio, the committee emphasized the importance of police collaboration in fulfilling their mandate.
“We find it most pertinent to partner with the Police to enable us to succeed in our committee programs,” Dio stated, acknowledging the critical role law enforcement plays in their functions.
The committee also commended the police for their relentless efforts in combating crime and maintaining law and order in the state.
While appreciating the long standing cooperation between the police and the legislature, they called for even stronger collaboration to improve security outcomes.
Responding, the Commissioner, assured the lawmakers of the police command’s full support and willingness to work closely with them.
He reiterated the police command’s commitment to fostering cordial relationships with all key stakeholders, including government agencies.
“Our doors are always open for cooperation and collaboration,” the commissioner stated.
