Stade Rennais is reportedly keen on signing Hakim Ziyech during the upcoming January transfer window. According to Turkish media outlets, the Moroccan international, currently struggling for game time at Galatasaray, could be tempted by a move to Ligue 1.
Ziyech, who joined the Turkish club in 2023 after leaving Chelsea, has endured a challenging spell marked by injuries and limited appearances. Despite hopes of reviving his career in Turkey, the 32-year-old winger has managed only 10 appearances this season, including three starts, contributing a single assist. Galatasaray is reportedly open to offloading Ziyech, who is under contract until June 2025, to free up a non-EU player spot in their squad. Rennes manager Jorge Sampaoli is said to view Ziyech as a valuable addition to bolster his team’s attacking options.
For Ziyech, a move to Rennes could provide an opportunity to reignite his career and reclaim his place in the Moroccan national team, which he has missed out on in recent call-ups. With the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on the horizon, the winger will be eager to return to peak form. The prospect of competing in Ligue 1, especially after a near-move to PSG two years ago, adds to the appeal of this potential transfer.
While Rennes appears interested and Ziyech reportedly intrigued by the challenge, negotiations could prove complex. Nonetheless, a move to Ligue 1 might be the reset Ziyech needs to rediscover his best form and reestablish himself as a key figure for both club and country.
