Following consecutive defeats to lowly Nacional and Gil Vicente, Porto announced on Monday that they had fired coach Vitor Bruno.
The two-time Champions League winners are currently third in the Primeira Liga standings after 18 games.
Bruno was hired in June 2024 to replace Sergio Conceicao, who left the team after seven seasons in which he won 11 titles, including three Portuguese league titles.
Porto is the 12th club to fire a manager this season, joining Benfica, who fired German Roger Schmidt after two campaigns in August, and Sporting, who lost Ruben Amorim to Manchester United in November.
After Porto lost 1-0 to Sporting in the League Cup semi-final, Bruno’s relationship with the players soured, and midfielder Pepe took to social media to criticise the coach.
Porto will play Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday.
Porto is one of 32 clubs that have qualified for the expanded 2025 Club World Cup, which will take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13.
