Several U15 Starlets players, including Tabitha Wambui, Faith Boke, and Christine Farrine, have been promoted to the U17 squad. They join former U15 players like Lindy Weey in the U17 Starlets.
This comes after many players from the U17 World Cup team were promoted to the U20 Starlets due to age. Kenya Academy of Sports is one of eight teams from the CECAFA region set to compete in the inaugural CAF U17 Girls Integrated Football Tournament (GIFT), scheduled for January 7-18, 2025, at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The other participating teams include:
Aigle Noir FC (Burundi)
Bahir Dar Kenema FC (Ethiopia)
JKT Queens (Tanzania)
TDS Girls Academy (Tanzania)
Boni Consilli Girls Vocational Team (Uganda)
City Lights Football Academy (South Sudan)
Hilaad FC (Somalia)
Kenya’s team reported to camp on December 29 and is set to travel to Tanzania on January 4.
