The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced that Nora Häuptle, the former head coach of the Black Queens, will not continue her tenure after contract negotiations broke down. The decision follows failed discussions to renew her contract, which expired recently.
Speaking on the matter, GFA Communications Director Henry Asante Twum provided clarity on the situation, emphasizing that the association had done its best to retain the Swiss tactician who has moved on to join Zambia female national team.
“GFA met Nora Häuptle to discuss a possible extension of her contract,” Asante Twum explained. “With the offer we presented to her, she was demanding a 100 percent increment, but we offered her 50 percent since it was the FA who has been paying her since her appointment. We tried our best to extend her contract, but she was unwilling to accept what we presented.”
Asante Twum acknowledged Häuptle’s right to walk away, given the circumstances. “Being a professional coach, she had the right to walk away since her contract had ended,” he stated.
Häuptle’s departure has brought an end to a significant chapter for the Black Queens. During her tenure, she implemented tactical improvements and a disciplined approach that revitalized the team. Her work was instrumental in bolstering the team’s confidence and competitiveness on the continental stage.
Häuptle’s tenure with the Black Queens has been widely regarded as a positive period for the team. Under her leadership, the team showed tactical discipline, improved performances, and a renewed sense of purpose. Her ability to instill confidence and professionalism among the players has left an indelible mark on the team.
Fans and analysts have expressed mixed reactions to the news of her departure, with some praising her contributions and others questioning the GFA’s inability to meet her demands.
Nora Häuptle has since joined the female national team of Zambia as they prepare for the Women AFCON.
