Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to Osun State have been reminded that the scheme is part of a tradition that has been a cornerstone of national unity and development since its inception in 1973.
This charge was given by the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, in his address at the swearing-in and official opening ceremony of the 2024 Batch C Stream I orientation programme at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Ede.
Governor Adeleke, who was represented by the Commissioner for Youths, Moshood Olagunju, maintained that discipline is the bedrock of success and also charged the youth corps members to be law-abiding, disciplined, and fully committed to the ideals of the scheme.
He said, “Discipline, as you know, is the bedrock of success. As you go through this phase, I urge you to be law-abiding, disciplined, and fully committed to the ideals of the NYSC. Let your conduct during this period set the tone for a fulfilling service year.”
Adeleke, who called on the corps members to be good ambassadors of the NYSC and Nigeria, urged them to embrace positive change, adaptability, and open-mindedness.
While highlighting that Osun is a youth-centric state, he assured that his administration will continue to invest in programmes that foster creativity, entrepreneurship, and innovation, ensuring that the youth of the state remain on the path of progress and development.
“I assure you of our continued support throughout your service year. Our administration remains committed to creating a safe and conducive environment for you to serve and thrive.
“Your dedication is key to the success of the NYSC’s objectives, and I commend you for your service.”
In his address, the Osun NYSC State Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, acknowledged the support of the Ademola Adeleke administration for ensuring the smooth running of the NYSC programme and noted that the commitment to youth development is exemplary.
Agbor stated that the orientation programme is the beginning of a transformative journey, adding that the NYSC has remained a significant asset to nation-building through youth mobilisation.
“Today marks the beginning of a transformative journey in your lives. The National Youth Service Corps has remained a significant national asset since its inception, contributing to nation-building through youth mobilisation for service and development. The Scheme’s four cardinal programmes are structured and carefully designed to equip you with the skills, discipline, and mindset necessary to contribute meaningfully to society. These programmes are the Orientation Course, Primary Assignment, Community Development Service (CDS), and Winding-up and Passing-out Ceremony.”
The Osun NYSC State Coordinator added that the orientation is one of the most critical phases of the NYSC scheme as it serves as the foundation upon which the rest of the service year is built.
A total of 1,564 corps members, comprising 738 males and 826 females, were deployed to Osun State, while 960 were dislodged from Lagos State.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by the Osun State Chief Judge, Justice Oyetola Adepele Ojo, who was represented by Justice Michael Oludare Awe.
The dominant crypto exchange, OKX has expanded to Europe with launching an exchange platform and non-custodial wallet service in Belgium. All the customers in Belgium can now access OKX’s crypto trading services including spot and futures trading.
The company announced this news on Nov, 26 stating that the OKX Exchange and OKX Wallets are now available for Belgium customers with the euro deposit option. This new platform grants Belgium users access to trade over 200 cryptocurrencies, including 60 crypto assets paired with euro.
OKX has partnered with Bancontact, which is Belgium’s most famous online payment organization. This integration grants permission to OKX users within the country to immediately deposit funds in their accounts.
Additionally, OKX has also enabled deposits and withdrawals through Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA), one of the most popular digital payment systems in Belgium.
OKX’s general manager of Europe, Erald Ghoos said, “The company does not have direct regulatory approval from Belgian authorities, but rather operates under a ‘non-rejection’ status for its activities in Belgium”.
According to the reports, 25% of Belgium’s population currently has exposure to cryptocurrencies and the number is expected to reach 28% by 2028 . This forecast is suggesting increased importance of digital assets among investors in Belgium.

The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) has captured attention with a notable 39% surge, fueled by growing anticipation for the altseason. This optimism has sparked interest in several altcoins, with ENS emerging as a top performer in this week, climbing over 100%.
ENS’s rally gained further momentum after Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong publicly endorsed it as a key decentralized identity project.
The heightened interest has propelled ENS to $34.24 at the time of writing, supported by a market cap nearing $1.17 billion and the 24-hour trading volume stands at $2.35 billion, surging a staggering almost 375%.
The ENS price rally is also partially fueled by spikes in Ethereum price which has pumped over 15% in past 7 days, breaking above $3,600.
Despite being 60% below its all-time high of $85 from November 2021, the recent uptrend in ENS price suggests a potential breakout.
ENS is trading near the critical $32 resistance level, a zone it has struggled to surpass since early 2022. Analysts predict that breaking this level could lead to a significant rally, potentially pushing the price to $82 or higher. This would require a 250% gain, a feat not uncommon during altseason.
ENS’s performance against Bitcoin and Ethereum has also improved, hinting at strong investor confidence. As Bitcoin’s dominance fluctuates, altcoins like ENS are seeing increased inflows, with the cryptocurrency market currently in a phase of “extreme greed.”
ENS serves as a decentralized naming system on Ethereum, converting human-readable addresses into machine-readable formats. With its utility and Coinbase’s backing, ENS is well-positioned to capitalize on the altseason hype.

Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, HCSF, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has said that workers who came into the civil service through the back doors do not go unpunished.
Walson-Jack said this on Monday while fielding questions from journalists at a press conference to mark her 100 days in office as Head of the Nigerian civil service.
She said even though it was the responsibility of the Federal Civil Service Commission to recruit workers into the system, the civil service was there to support that responsibility.
According to her, those who obtained their job through fraud are sanctioned accordingly to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to use such means.
“So in terms of job racketeering, whatever we can do, we’ll do to fight against it. And I know that the civil service has been doing that because when you find that someone has obtained a job under fraudulent means, of course the person is already in the service, the civil service will have to work with the Commission to ensure that that person is sanctioned,” the HCSF said.
Speaking on corruption among civil servants, the HoS added, “Corruption is an issue for everyone. It is an issue that has to be dealt with from all angles and all hands must be on deck.
“So, on our part, we make known the fact that we have zero tolerance for corruption and we’re willing and able to do all that we can do to reduce corruption in the system and in fact, to eradicate it.”
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs Esther Didi Walson-Jack, has told newly promoted directors that their new position marks the beginning of more challenges.
She further charged the new directors to let their leadership inspire confidence among their subordinates and stakeholders.
She stated this on Friday in Abuja at a dinner in honour of newly appointed directors, reiterating their critical role of being at the forefront of driving the needed civil service reforms, especially as it concerns the actualisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu.
Walson-Jack charged the 332 directors that their promotion heralds “the beginning of more challenging and fulfilling part where your influence and impact will shape the future of our civil service.”
She said further: “As newly promoted directors, you have reached the pinnacle that reflects not just your achievements but the trust and expectation placed upon you by the Federal Civil Service and the nation.”
She charged them to rededicate themselves to the principles of good governance, transparency, efficiency and accountability.
“I urge you therefore to embrace this opportunity for growth and development. I would like to inspire you to reach new heights in your career,” she added.
Walson-Jack urged the directors to foster an environment of collaboration, inclusivity and continuous learning, assuring them of her firm support.
Earlier on Thursday, the Head of the Civil Service unveiled three groundbreaking initiatives aimed at transforming Nigeria’s civil service as part of the activities of her first 100 days in office under the theme “Marching to Greatness: Celebrating 100 Days.”
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has announced a new set of measures aimed at enhancing customer service and maintaining high environmental standards at Nigerian airports.
A statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Tunde Moshood, said the initiatives are designed to meet the expectations of travellers across the country.
He said the measures include the introduction of voluntary Special Airport Marshals, who will conduct surprise inspections at airports.
According to him, the Marshals, comprising respected media members, NGOs, and state representatives, will provide independent assessments of airport conditions, cleanliness, and staff behaviour, reporting directly to the Minister.
The statement added that the Minister will lead unscheduled inspections of airports nationwide, accompanied by senior Ministry and FAAN officials.
It said the visits will involve hands-on participation in airport operations and direct engagement with staff, reinforcing the importance of professional conduct and quality service.
Over the next few weeks, the statement said the Ministry will also consult with stakeholders to select suitable volunteers for the Special Airport Marshal program, with the final list of appointees to be publicly announced for transparency.
“The Minister, in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, will appoint voluntary Special Airport Marshals who are resident in cities where airports are located. These Marshals, comprising public-spirited individuals drawn from members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), and representatives of State Governors, will conduct unscheduled visits to the airports. Their role will be to monitor staff conduct and assess the general hygiene and conditions of the airports.
“The voluntary Special Airport Marshals shall report directly to the Minister, who will issue necessary directives to FAAN based on their findings,” the statement said.
“I am absolutely devastated about the passing of my amazing friend, Liam,” Niall wrote in a lengthy Instagram statement. “It just doesn’t feel real. Liam had an energy for life and a passion for work that was infectious. He was the brightest in every room and always made everyone feel happy and secure.”
The “Slow Hands” singer continued to reminisce on his time singing alongside Liam in One Direction.
“All the laughs we had over the years, sometimes about the simplest of things, keep coming to my mind through the sadness,” Niall added. “We got to live out our wildest dreams together and I will cherish every moment we had forever. The bond and friendship we had doesn’t happen often in a lifetime.”
Niall, who had Liam and his girlfriend Kate Cassidy as guests at his recent concert in Buenos Aires, also detailed what it was like seeing his friend for the final time.
“I feel so fortunate that I got to see him recently,” Niall wrote. “I sadly didn’t know that after saying goodbye and hugging him that evening, I would be saying goodbye forever. It’s heartbreaking. My love and condolences go out to Geoff, Karen, Ruth, Nicola and of course his son Bear. Thank you for everything, Payno. Love you brother.”
