Gernot Rohr, the head coach of the Benin Republic, says his squad would manage without important players in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match against the Nigerian Super Eagles.
For the match, the Cheetahs will be missing Olivier Verdon and Cedric Hountondji, two of their reliable defenders.
Hountondji and Verdon’s absence disappointed the German, but he is certain he has good players in the squad to take their places.
“We are missing key players but we will do without them.
” In the axis we would have liked to have Cedric and Olivier with us but they are not here,” Rohr was quoted by Joueurs Beninois.
The Super Eagles will play Benin Republic on Thursday night at Felix Houphet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
Four days later, the West Africans will travel to play the Mediterranean Knights of Libya.
The Cheetahs have six points after four games, good for second place in Group D.
