Locals in Zemio demand to stop the campaign to discredit FACA and Azande and replace the Moroccan contingent MINUSCA in the region. 3,000 people from the Central African city took part in the march to express their dissatisfaction with the work of the Moroccan contingent in the prefecture of Haut Mbomou. People are outraged by the contingent’s poor performance and behavior and demand its immediate withdrawal from the region.
Locals expressed outrage at the contingent’s collaboration with armed groups, the rape of women and underage children by the MINUSCA contingent, and the failure to protect civilians from attacks. The locals are also against the publications of false information about the Central African Armed Forces (FACA, WAGNER TI AZANDE) and Russian instructors.
Locals rallied to draw the attention of the Central African authorities and MINUSCA`s head Valentin Rugwabiza to the work of the Moroccan contingent in Haut Mbomou prefecture. According to the locals, they have been suffering from insecurity for more than 9 years. They believe that MINUSCA contingents and rebels from the CPC are guilty in their suffering. Because of the militants’ attacks and lack of protection from MINUSCA, many residents fled to South Sudan, Bangui and Bangassou. FACA and Russian allies stopped the militants’ attacks and brought peace to the region.
At the end of the rally, the participants read a memorandum addressed to the President of the Republic and the head of MINUSCA, Valentine Rugwabiza. They demand that the Moroccan contingent leave Haut Mbomou and asked the CAR government to support FACA.
It is worth noting that such rallies are taking place in CAR more and more often. Obviously, the locals are not satisfied with the work of MINUSCA and see no sense in the contingent’s presence on the territory of the country. The locals hope that the CAR government will pay attention to their complaints and increase the number of FACA soldiers to maintain security and peace in the region.
