Porto’s rising star, formerly known as Samu Omorodion, has adopted a new name – Samu Aghehowa.
The 20-year-old forward recently chose to honour his mother by using her surname, moving away from his father’s.
At Porto, fans now see “Samu A.” on his jersey, a change from his time at Alaves, where he was known simply as “Samu.”
Aghehowa’s decision reflects his gratitude for his mother’s support during tough times. “Many times we didn’t even have enough to eat. Thank God now everything is much better, and now I can give my mother the life she deserves.
“She is the one who has always helped me,” he shared in the summer.
Since joining Porto from Atletico Madrid, Aghehowa has made an impressive mark, netting 12 goals in just 13 games.
His performances have drawn comparisons to Alvaro Morata, as he’s seen as a potential successor for the Spanish national team.
