The Newcastle United Alexander Isak of Sweden was chosen as the December 2024 Player of the Month.
In a statement posted on their website on Friday, the Premier League declared Isak the winner.
With eight goals and two assists in six Premier League games, Isak has an outstanding month for Newcastle United and wins the accolade for the first time in his career.
In December, the striker led the Premier League in goals scored, scoring in each of his six games as Newcastle won four, drew one, and lost just once to get into the running for a top-four finish.
Isak scored goals against Manchester United, Liverpool, Brentford, Leicester City, and Aston Villa in addition to his hat-trick against Ipswich Town.
He is on the shortlist for the Guinness Goal of the Month award for December following his goal in the 3–3 draw with leaders Liverpool.
Since the award’s inception in 1994/95, the 25-year-old is just the fourth Swedish player to win it.
The others are Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Manchester United in December 2016, Johan Elmander for Bolton Wanderers in November 2010, and Freddie Ljungberg for Arsenal in April 2002.
Since Miguel Almiron took home the award in October 2022, Isak is the first Newcastle player to do so.
