Football pundits, Martin Keown and Owen Hargreaves, have hailed attacking midfielder, Ethan Nwaneri following his man-of-the-match performance in Arsenal’s 2-1 Champions League win over Girona on Wednesday.
Nwaneri scored the match’s deciding goal with a superb finish from outside the box.
The Gunners went behind early in the first half after Arnaut Danjuma capitalised on some questionable positioning from stand-in keeper Neto.
However, the Premier League club equalized from the spot through Jorginho’s penalty before Nwaneri scored his first Champions League goal for Mikel Arteta’s side as they progress to the next stage of the competition.
However, both Keown and Hargreaves were impressed with Nwaneri’s display.
Keown told TNT Sports: “I love it when a young player produces on the night.
“We build him up at the start, saying what a great talent he was, and there is anger in that [finish] but control as well – he is whipping that into the corner.
“He’s got the ability and he is made that look really easy there.”
On his part, Hargreaves added: “The remarkable thing about him is the ball sticks to his foot – it’s never away from him.
“I don’t want to say who he reminds me of because it puts pressure on him but he’s a special player.”
