…allays students’ fear
The management of Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora has reassured concerned students from the Faculty of Management, who experienced delays in their mobilization for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), that they will soon be mobilized.
Rector Prof. Akinola Akinlabi explained that the delay in accrediting some programs was due to the COVID-19 lockdown, which prevented the previous management from inviting the supervising body for polytechnics in Nigeria to conduct the accreditation exercise.
According to the Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Opeyemi Olawore, the new management under Prof. Akinlabi has since secured accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for Higher National Diploma programs in the Faculty of Management. Efforts are underway to address the issues caused by the delayed accreditation.
The Rector recalled that the students of the institution had since 2014 been enjoying prompt and regular mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps scheme.
He appealed to the affected students to exercise a little more patience as efforts of the management in this direction will soon yield positive results.
He further revealed that the management will not renege in ensuring prompt accreditation of the institution’s programmes.
Prof. Akinlabi pointed out that between June 3 and 5, 2024, the National Board for Technical Education visited the institution for resource inspection of 13 programmes and institutional accreditation.
He promised to update stakeholders as soon as the management’s effort yielded positive results.
