Brentford delivered a scintillating display at the Gtech Community Stadium as they cruised to a commanding 5-0 victory over Southampton, with Bryan Mbeumo at the heart of the action.
The Bees wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Kevin Schade breaking the deadlock in the 6th minute. Schade capitalized on a defensive lapse from Southampton, slotting the ball past the helpless goalkeeper to set the tone for the evening. Despite creating a few chances, the visitors failed to muster a response, and the first half ended 1-0 in Brentford’s favor.
The second half saw Bryan Mbeumo take center stage. In the 62nd minute, he doubled Brentford’s lead with a clinical finish after a well-worked team move. Just seven minutes later, Mbeumo struck again, this time from a penalty as he steers the ball past Aaron Ramsdale.
With the match firmly in Brentford’s control, Mbeumo continued to torment the Southampton defense. In stoppage time, he turned provider, delivering a perfectly timed assist for Keane Lewis-Potter, who made it 4-0 in the 90+2 minute.
As the clock ticked toward full-time, Brentford added a fifth goal through Yoane Wissa. The Congolese forward pounced on a loose ball in the dying seconds to cap off an emphatic win for Thomas Frank’s side.
The victory, highlighted by Mbeumo’s brilliance, leaves Brentford flying high as they continue their impressive campaign. Southampton, on the other hand are dangerously at the bottom of the table.
