Matchday 4 of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers concluded this Tuesday, bringing new twists and tightening the race for qualification across several groups. With only two matchdays left, some teams are on the brink of sealing their spots for the tournament in Morocco, while others have sealed their qualification, others are also fighting to keep their hopes alive. 

Here are the updated group standings after Matchday 4: 

Group A 

1. Tunisia – 7 points 

2. Comoros – 6 points 

3. Gambia – 5 points 

4. Madagascar – 2 points 

This group remains wide open with Comoros pushing Tunisia, and Gambia still in the mix for qualification.

Group B 

1. Morocco – 12 points 

2. Gabon – 7 points 

3. Central African Republic – 3 points 

4. Lesotho – 1 point 

Morocco has dominated the group and all but secured qualification, with Gabon trailing closely behind. 

Group C

1. Egypt – 12 points 

2. Cape Verde – 6 points 

3. Botswana – 3 points 

4. Mauritania – 3 points 

Egypt continues their unbeaten run, while Cape Verde holds second place but faces pressure from Botswana and Mauritania.

Group D

1. Nigeria – 7 points 

2. Benin – 6 points 

3. Rwanda – 5 points 

4. Libya – 1 point 

This group remains highly competitive, with Nigeria, Benin, and Rwanda separated by just two points. The Nigeria – Libya match couldn’t come on.  

Group E

1. Algeria – 12 points 

2. Equatorial Guinea – 7 points 

3. Togo – 2 points 

4. Liberia – 1 point 

Algeria is in firm control, while Equatorial Guinea maintains a healthy cushion over Togo and Liberia.

Group F

1. Angola – 12 points 

2. Sudan – 7 points 

3. Ghana – 2 points 

4. Niger – 1 point 

Angola leads the group, leaving Sudan as the closest challenger. Ghana faces an uphill battle for qualification. 

Group G

1. Ivory Coast – 9 points 

2. Zambia – 7 points 

3. Sierra Leone – 4 points 

4. Chad – 2 points 

Ivory Coast remains ahead, but Zambia and Sierra Leone are still in contention. 

Group H

1. DR Congo – 12 points 

2. Guinea – 6 points 

3. Tanzania – 4 points 

4. Ethiopia – 1 point 

DR Congo leads the group comfortably, but Guinea and Tanzania are still vying for second place. 

Group I 

1. Mali – 8 points 

2. Mozambique – 8 points 

3. Guinea-Bissau – 4 points 

4. Eswatini (Swaziland) – 1 point 

This group is shaping up to be a fierce battle, with Mali and Mozambique tied and Guinea-Bissau chasing.

Group J 

1. Cameroon – 10 points 

2. Zimbabwe – 8 points 

3. Kenya – 4 points 

4. Namibia – 0 points 

Cameroon and Zimbabwe look strong, but Kenya still has an outside chance of disrupting the race. 

Group K 

1. Uganda – 10 points 

2. South Africa – 8 points 

3. Congo – 4 points 

4. South Sudan – 0 points 

Uganda leads the group, but South Africa is close behind, keeping things interesting heading into the final matchdays.

Group L 

1. Burkina Faso – 10 points 

2. Senegal – 10 points 

3. Burundi – 3 points 

4. Malawi – 0 points 

Burkina Faso and Senegal are locked in a battle for the top spot.
