Following the dismissal of Gary O’Neil, Wolverhampton Wanderers reached an agreement with Portuguese Vitor Pereira to take over as their new coach, according to a Tuesday report from Sky Sports.
The sixth-place Saudi Arabian team in the Saudi Pro League, Al-Shabab, is currently managed by Pereira.
Among his past management stints are those at Flamengo, Fenerbahce, Olympiakos, and Porto. After a losing streak left Wolves in the Premier League’s relegation zone, O’Neil was fired on Sunday.
According to Sky Sports, Wolves and Al-Shabab have reached an agreement on both monetary and personal terms.
Pereira, 56, is anticipated to sign a one-and-a-half-year contract. A request for comment from Wolves was not immediately answered.
With nine points from 16 games, Wolves is currently ranked 19th in the rankings after losing 2-1 at home to promoted Ipswich Town on Saturday, extending their losing skid to four league games.
