Popular gospel musician Sinach is facing a N5 billion lawsuit filed by music producer Michael Oluwole, professionally known as Maye, over alleged copyright infringement involving her 2016 global hit song, Way Maker.
In the suit numbered FHC/L/CS/402/2024, Maye claims to be the co-author and co-owner of the song and is seeking a court declaration to recognize his contributions.
He is also demanding N5 billion in general damages for what he describes as the cumulative infringement of his rights.
Sinach, however, denies the producer’s claims, asserting that she is the sole author of the song. She also emphasized her global recognition as a gospel artist long before the release of Way Maker.
The trial commenced at the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, but has been adjourned until January 29 and 30, 2025, to allow both parties to present further evidence.
Nigerian international entrepreneur and business-missionary, Melody Fidel, has been awarded ‘Africa Inspiring Impact Maker’ in Kigali, Rwanda.
The award was the culmination of a four-day highly successful 100 Most Notable Africans Leadership and Business Summit where Melody addressed the gathering on Partnership and Collaboration in Governance and Business, Shaping the Africa Investment Opportunities.
According to organisers of the event, Melody deserves the recognition for his contribution to influencing and mentoring youth across the continent to embrace entrepreneurship, businesses and self-actualisation.
“I am elated that the organisers deemed me deserving of this award which places more responsibility on my shoulders to continue to advocate for African youth who make up significant percentage of the continent’s population to excel,” Melody stated.
He continued that, “We have to do everything in our capacity as Africans to encourage and support our youth to be resourceful, resilient and selfless, hence my call on governments and the established private sector to increase their collaboration with small and medium-scale businesses across the continent in order to create more job opportunities.”
Other recipients of the awards in different sectors include, Zamfara Sate governor, Dauda Lawal; Samira Buhari, Founder, Daurama Foundation; Senator Aplonia Munzverengwi from Zimbabwe and Michael Bartlett, CEO Vanderpuye Group, Ghana, amongst many others.
Melody Fidel is the founder of Stability and Sustenance Business Summit who in the past decade has coached over 100,000 youths physically and virtually on skills acquisition and monetization, disbursed business grants to over 1,000 youth and in late 2023 got recognized for his youth mentorship with The Future Awards Africa Prize for Service to Young People.

The appointment of the skit maker recognised for his funny contents, was contained in a letter with reference number SSAP/SNEO/24/VOL.1/464, and addressed to Kawu.
The letter, titled “Appointment As Special Assistant On Entertainment,” conveyed the approval of Umar Bush’s appointment and outlined his responsibilities, which include managing media promotion, enhancing public relations, and spearheading entertainment initiatives for the office.
Umar Bush’s appointment is effective from July 10, 2024, for an initial two-year term, with the potential for renewal based on his performance in the role.
