Ethiopia will face Tanzania at Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecote in a match between two countries aiming to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
With one point from four games, the hosts are at the bottom of the group, while the visitors are in third position with four points.
Ethiopia needs to win their next two games against Tanzania and Congo DR and hope for other favourable outcomes in order to secure their 11th AFCON appearance.
After four games, Ethiopia has lost all three after their goalless draw with Tanzania in the first game of the qualifying series, failing to get off to a strong start in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications.
With a win over Guinea and a draw against Ethiopia, Tanzania got off to a good start in the qualifying campaign.
However, things took a turn for the worst when they lost both legs of their doubleheader against Congo DR last month. The Taifa Stars had a five-game winning streak, consisting of three victories and two draws, until last month’s defeats. Hemed Suleiman would like to see his team regain this form in order to advance to the AFCON.
In order to put Suleiman’s team in first place going into their last match, Tanzania needs to defeat Ethiopia for the first time ever while hoping Congo DR defeats Guinea.
