At the King Power Stadium on Sunday, Leicester City overcame a two-goal deficit to draw 2-2 with Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League, due to late goals from winger Bobby De Cordova-Reid and captain Jamie Vardy.
Brighton had to settle for a point that pushed them up to seventh place in the table, while the promoted hosts remain in 16th place with 14 points.
Brighton had appeared on pace to win their first away Premier League game against Leicester. With a fantastic goal into the bottom right corner of a deflected pass from Jamaican international De Cordova-Reid in the 86th minute, Vardy, 37, ignited a comeback and cut Leicester’s deficit.
To the pleasure of the home crowd, De Cordova-Reid equalised the score in extra time by tapping in Vardy’s square pass, guaranteeing that new manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has not lost yet.
Following a deft pass from left back Pervis Estupinan, right back Tariq Lamptey cut inside and curled the ball into the far top corner from outside the box to give the visitors the lead in the 37th minute.
After Brighton missed a couple of chances, winger Yankuba Minteh extended that lead in the 79th minute.
From around ten meters away, Brazilian forward Joao Pedro volleyed wide of the left post after failing to convert a Lamptey cross.
Kaoru Mitoma curled the ball over the bar after striker Evan Ferguson squared it to him as well.
Bart Verbruggen, the custodian for Brighton, was little used until the 44th minute, when he lunged to block a strong header from James Justin, an unmarked fullback.
