THE executive board of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) Lagos Chapter, has explained its decision to tag this year’s Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala and Awards (LaPRIGA) ‘The Shining Stars’.
This, the board explained, is to enable the Chapter celebrate individuals that have served as a beacon of inspiration, in the profession, but remain unsung.
The Chairman of the Chapter, Mrs. Comfort Nwankwo, who stated this at a media briefing held to unveil the theme of this year’s edition of the event, also used the opportunity to unveil the Chairmen of the Selection Panel, Mr. Muyiwa Akintunde, and that of the Planning Committee, Mrs. Victoria Uwadoka.
According to Nwankwo, PR professionals are often the unsung heroes, working behind the scene to shape narratives, build trust, and create campaigns that have power to shift mindsets and drive change.
“This year will honour those who have stood out as shining stars, not only for their creativity, but for the measurable impact their work has had on society, brands, and the communities they serve,” she stated.
Besides celebrating individuals and corporate achievements, Nwankwo stated that this year’s edition of the event, slated for December, would also showcase the evolving landscape of public relations and how it continues to shape the future of communication in Nigeria.
She added that the Award would also be used to highlight some of the emerging trends the practice has continued to adapt to, and set new benchmarks for excellence in the profession.
