A ticket to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) was on the line, and both teams knew what was at stake as the Black Satellites of Ghana played against their West African rivals, the Ivory Coast, in the semi-final of the WAFU Zone B Championship

The game started with high energy, as expected, with both sides pushing to gain the upper hand. Ghana showed flashes of brilliance, but the Ivorians were quick to exploit any gaps. In the 18th minute, Ivory Coast capitalized on a rare lapse in the Ghanaian defense. Loukou Jaures found himself with a pocket of space just inside the penalty box. The stadium fell silent as Jerry Afriyie, named the team’s penalty taker, stepped up, took the kick and scored.Ghana had taken the lead at 2-1, and the fans erupted into wild celebration.
