Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson has revealed his unique perspective on handling criticism, embracing it as a driving force for improvement. In a candid statement, the Senegalese striker shared how he views negative comments as a form of motivation rather than a hindrance.
“I want to hear people say bad things about me, criticise me on the pitch,” Jackson said. “It’s nice; it helps you. I love this, you know.”
The 22-year-old’s remarks underline his mental resilience and determination to grow as a player, even when under scrutiny. Jackson’s attitude is a testament to his commitment to self-improvement and his ability to channel external pressures into positive energy.
This mindset has been evident in his performances for Chelsea, where his work rate and perseverance often shine through. While some player faces ups and downs, Jackson’s willingness to embrace criticism sets him apart, reflecting the mentality of a player eager to push boundaries and silence doubters.
As Chelsea continue their campaign, Jackson’s approach to challenges—both on and off the pitch—will undoubtedly serve him well, helping him reach new heights in his career while inspiring teammates and fans alike.
Dave previously explained that his cancer battle has been a fast and furious one, as he learned about the development in his lymph nodes just five weeks prior to sharing the news publicly.
“In that time, I’ve had three surgeries, I’ve had chemo, I’ve lost a little bit of hair,” he told Today‘s Hoda Kotb on Nov. 13. “I kind of look like a little baby bird now, but it has been a roller coaster ride for sure.”
The 65-year-old explained that he was dealing with “a very aggressive type of lymphoma,” and because it happened so quickly, he began treatments for chemotherapy right away.
For now, he’s focusing on the good news, which is that the cancer has not spread.
Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda put up a stunning performance for Orlando Pride to help the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) shield winners emerge 4-1 victors over Chicago Red Stars in the NWSL playoffs quarter-final.
Banda scored a first half brace after Haley McCutcheon’s opener to give Pride a comfortable 3-0 lead at halftime at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando.
A 56th minute VAR check confirmed Banda’s penalty and Brazilian Marta buried home Pride’s fourth goal of the game that rendered Stars’ by Jameese Joseph on the hour mark a mere consolation.
Banda’s countrymate Racheal Kundananji will take to the field on Sunday for Bay FC as they play Washington Spirit in the last eight.
The playoffs are played to crown the 2024 NWSL champions. Pride are the first team to secure a semi-finals spot and will face the winners of the match between Kansas City and NC Courage.
Galatasaray defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 in the Europa League on Thursday with Victor Osimhen scoring a brace as he maintained his stellar scoring run for the Turkish powerhouse.
Osimhen’s goal in Galatasaray’s 2-1 victory over Besiktas marks the second time he has done it in consecutive games.
In his previous five games, the 25-year-old has also scored six goals.
After giving Galatasaray a 2-1 lead in the 31st minute, Osimhen finished his brace in the 39th minute.
He had the opportunity to add to the two goals in the second half, but Fraser Forster’s outstretched leg in goal for Spurs stopped him from scoring when his header went narrowly over the bar from close range.
Dominic Solanke, a Nigerian striker who was born in England, gave Spurs a goal to make it a nail-biting finish, but Galatasaray held on to win the three points.
Following William Lankshear’s dismissal, Spurs had to play the majority of the second half with ten men.
Galatasaray now leads the Europa League with 10 points after winning three of their last four games (with one draw).
Spurs now sit in fifth place with nine points after their first loss of the season.
NEC and KCCA maintained their top two status after claiming victories as match day six wound up.
In Mbale, KCCA needed a first half goal from Bright Anukani to get all three points that temporarily put them in the top spot.
KCCA who are yet to lose a match this season are on 13 points and now in second position following a 2-0 victory for NEC at home to Wakiso Giants.
Muzamir Mutyaba and James Jarieko got the goals for the Bugolobi based side in their victory over the Purple Sharks.
Hussein Mbalangu’s men were fortunate on two big occasions as Hudson Mbalire hit the cross bar while Tervin Kyeyune from close range failed to tap home.
NEC are top with 14 points and will face new league entrants Lugazi in their next game while KCCA will host Maroons on match day seven.
And Kelly even quipped that Breckin is likely the only person “Bob would be OK” with her dating after his passing. As she jokingly put it, “He’s like, ‘Alright, I’m not thrilled about any of this, but it’s got to be somebody, let it be Breckin.'”
As for her future with the Rat Race star? Though there is no rush to get married, Kelly admitted it’s “definitely something I’m open to.” However, she and Breckin are living in the moment—especially because, as Kelly noted, “I truly learned you can’t plan life. Life has other plans.”
For now, Kelly’s focus is on her Comfort Food podcast, as well as her newly–launched Comfort Club, a supportive community for those navigating loss and grief. The idea behind the group came about after the outpouring of support Kelly received from others who had lost loved ones and were struggling to find ways to cope.
“I thought, ‘How about I start this community—this membership—where people can really feel seen and heard, and they’re surrounded by people who have gone through similar experiences,'” Kelly shared. “I’m not a therapist. I’m not a counselor. I’m just somebody who’s gone through this. And so, how can I curate this community to really help people and be so interactive and immersive?“
Lionel Messi scored a stunning 11-minute hat trick to help Inter Miami break the Major League Soccer record for most points in a single season, after defeating the New England Revolution 6-2 Saturday at Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Miami concluded the MLS regular season with 74 points in 34 games and a 22-4-8 (W-L-D) record, narrowly besting the Revolution’s 2021 mark of 73 points.
Luis Suarez propelled Inter Miami to rally from two goals down after 34 minutes, scoring twice in under four minutes to keep alive the chase for the points record.
But it was captain Messi who fittingly cemented Inter Miami’s name in league history. Just one minute after coming on he helped set up Benjamin Cremaschi to put Miami ahead for the first time in the 58th minute.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner then took center stage himself, starting in the 78th minute, to score his first hat trick for Miami and in the process become the club’s all-time leading scorer with 33 goals.
Miami also became the first team in MLS history to have multiple players score at least 20 goals in a season.
With 20 goals apiece, Messi and Suárez are set to finish second in the Golden Boot race to D.C. United’s Christian Benteke (23 goals). Messi, though, leads the league in total goal contributions with a combined 36 goals and assists in only 19 games.
Fat Joe is detailing his weight loss journey.
The “All The Way Up” rapper (real name Joseph Antonio Cartagena) recently shared how Ozempic, which he takes for his type 2 diabetes, assists in keeping off the 200 pounds he lost.
Lauding the drug for its appetite-controlling side effects, Joe joked to US Weekly Oct. 10, “Ozempic says you may only have two pieces of your favorite stuff.”
Of course, Joe isn’t relying solely on the drug to keep off his weight, and also detailed some of his diet changes.
“We just try to eat everything with the least carbs as possible,” Joe explained. “So we try to stay away from the bread, the pasta, the rice. That’s the smartest way to eat.”
The 54-year-old—who is dad to Joey, 33, Ryan, 27, and Azariah, 18, the latter who he shares with wife Lorena Cartagena—emphasized, though, that everything is in moderation.
“This morning I ate breakfast, I had this toast—I cut the corner off, ate it and kept it moving,” he noted. “Normally, I would’ve ate the whole thing. But you know, that’s what we do. We cut carbs and try to be smarter.”
