The search for Hannah Kobayashi continues.
Three weeks after the Hawaii native didn’t make it onto her flight from Los Angeles to New York City, authorities said she had missed her connection on purpose. However, her family isn’t sure.
“Hannah Kobayashi missed her connecting flight from LAX to New York, which the investigation determined was intentional,” Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said during a Nov. 26 police commission meeting. “Detectives have been diligently reviewing video surveillance and employing various investigative techniques to locate Hannah while her family has continued their personal search efforts.”
He shared more insight into the timeline of events, noting that after missing her flight Nov. 8, she “maintained contact with her family and was active on Instagram.”
“However, the family last heard from Hannah on Nov. 11,” he explained. “After receiving concerning text messages and losing further contact, her family traveled to L.A. on Nov. 13 and filed a missing person report. On Nov. 15, our missing persons unit assumed investigative responsibility.”
